Las Cruces police will conduct at least one sobriety checkpoint and one saturation patrol within city limits between June 26 and July 6, 2025.
Sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols are intended to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated or impaired.
Las Cruces Police encourage those who plan on consuming alcoholic beverages to utilize a ride-share or designated driver – someone who will not be drinking alcoholic beverages – for their transportation needs.
So far in June, LCPD officers have performed more than 40 hours of targeted traffic enforcement that has resulted in 189 citations. Most of the traffic citations issued were for speeding, failing to properly use seatbelts and operating a vehicle without the required liability insurance.
Officers will continue to be on the lookout for traffic safety violations.
