Dinner, DJ, dancing, line-dancing lessons, silent auction, cash bar
LAS CRUCES – “Boots and Bling,” a fundraiser that will benefit the students of the New Mexico State University Theatre Department, will be held 6-9 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road.
Tickets are $65 each. The event will include dinner, a disc jockey, dancing, line-dancing lessons, a cash bar and a silent auction.
The event is sponsored by the American Southwest Theatre Company (ASTC), the nonprofit that benefits Theatre Department students.
More than 60 silent-auction items at the event will include certificates for pet grooming and boarding, a complete golfing experience; wine baskets; a silver and agate necklace and other jewelry; Cross, Shaffer and Waterman fountain pens; an Italian dinner prepared by ASTC Board members; a southwestern quilt; a Turkish glass serving platter; a Nambe chips and salsa bowl; signed Navajo pottery; a signed sand painting; and certificates from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
“We will be embracing our inner cowboy at this great event,” said Marci Dickerson, who is catering Boots and Bling. “The meal will feature smoked beef tri tip and our famous green chile mashed potatoes,” Dickerson said.
“Dust off your boots or dancing shoes and enjoy music, dinner, dancing and lots of silent auction items to bid on,” said long-time ASTC Board President Denise Welsh.
Proceeds from the event “will go to support NMSU students and the productions which provide them with practical experience toward their career goals,” NMSU Theatre Department Head Wil Kilroy said. “Funds are used to bring in guest artists from the profession, assisting with student travel to conferences and graduate school auditions and, if needed, textbook purchases and other assistance.”
